Borussia Mönchengladbach defender Matthias Ginter believes that Marco Rose will stay with the Foals despite rumours linking him with a move to Borussia Dortmund.

Speculation regarding Marco Rose’s future has been a major talking point in German football in recent weeks. The Borussia Mönchengladbach head coach is thought to be the clear favourite to take over as the Borussia Dortmund trainer next season. But Gladbach centre back Matthias Ginter believes that the 44 year old will stay with the Foals beyond the end of the season.

"Speaking to the Rheinische Post, the German international said: “I’ve spoken to the coach about what he plans to do with Gladbach, even when rumors started circulating about me in the summer, and what he said did sound very long-term.”"

Ginter, who made 102 appearances for Borussia Dortmund before joining Borussia Mönchengladbach, would be surprised if Marco Rose left the club in the summer.

"“So I can reassure everyone who supports Gladbach a little bit about the future of the coach. The way I’ve gotten to know him, my assessment is that he won’t change his mind so quickly.”"

Borussia Dortmund will likely be in the market for a new head coach in the summer, having parted ways with Lucien Favre last month. Edin Terzic took over on an interim basis until the end of the season and has won two of his first three games in charge. No decision has yet been made on who will be the head coach heading into the next season.

Marco Rose joined Borussia Mönchengladbach from RB Salzburg in 2019 and helped them finish in the top four in his first season in charge. He has continued his impressive record this season as well, guiding his side into the Champions League round of 16 ahead of Inter Milan. Reports have claimed in recent weeks that Rose’s contract contains a release clause which can be activated at the end of the season.
