Michael Zorc has said that there has been no contact yet between Borussia Dortmund and Arsenal over the potential transfer of Julian Brandt.

Reports in England claim that Arsenal are interested in signing Julian Brandt in the January transfer window. But despite the rumours, Arsenal have yet to make any contact with Borussia Dortmund regarding a potential move, Borussia Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc has confirmed. Speaking at the pre-match press conference ahead of Sunday’s game against VfL Wolfsburg, Zorc said about the rumours:

"“I have read that [the rumours] too. No one has contacted us. There is nothing on the table yet and not even in the fax machine. That’s all I can say.”"

Brandt joined Borussia Dortmund from Bayer Leverkusen in 2019 for a fee of 25 million euros. While he has shown glimpses of his quality over the last 18 months, he has not been able to hold down a regular starting spot, thanks in part to Lucien Favre’s insistence on using him in several different roles. In 22 appearances so far this season, the playmaker has just one goal and one assist to his name.

Brandt has three and a half years left on his Borussia Dortmund contract. And the BVB bosses will certainly not be keen on losing him in the middle of the season.

Michael Zorc said on Friday that he expects Borussia Dortmund to have a quiet transfer window, but did not rule out making some moves.

Edin Terzic: Reinier Jesus on the right track

Edin Terzic backed Reinier Jesus to to come good despite his poor start to life at Borussia Dortmund. The Real Madrid loanee has been limited to just eight appearances off the bench so far, with injuries and COVID-19 halting his progress.

"“Reinier still needs a bit of time. He really gives his all in training and is on the right track. We are confident that this will be reflected in his performances as soon as possible.”"
