Gladbach edge past Arminia Bielefeld

Breel Embolo scored the only goal of the game as Borussia Mönchengladbach earned a narrow 1-0 win over Arminia Bielefeld. Looking to end their poor run of just one win in seven Bundesliga matches, Gladbach took the lead in the 58th minute as Embolo fired home after being played through on goal despite pressure from Amos Pieper. The win helped Gladbach move up to seventh place in the league table.

Sc Freiburg make it four wins in a row

SC Freiburg carried their excellent run of form into the new year, beating TSG Hoffenheim 3-1. The Black Forest club raced to a three goal lead thanks to first half strikes from Baptiste Santamaria, Vincenzo Grifo and an own goal from Kasim Adams. Ihlas Bebou pulled one back in the second half, but it only proved to be a consolation goal, as Freiburg climbed up to ninth place.
