Thomas Delaney has developed into an important player for Borussia Dortmund this season, and now Edin Terzic has praised him for his recent performances.

Thomas Delaney has been one of Borussia Dortmund’s most consistent performers this season. The Dane has been a solid presence in midfield whenever he has played this season, and he continued his good form with another impressive display against Wolfsburg last weekend. He now looks set to start once again against RB Leipzig on Saturday. And head coach Edin Terzic heaped praise on him ahead of the game.

Speaking during his pre-match press conference before Borussia Dortmund’s game against RB Leipzig, Terzic said:

"“Thomas Delaney always performs well, not just in the last two games. He is definitely a very important player who stabilises our defence and is always capable of destabilising our opponents. That is very important in this position. We are lucky to have a player like him in the squad.”"

Delaney has made 15 appearances for the Black and Yellows so far this season and has also taken on a leadership role in the team. He is now the team’s second vice-captain, behind Marco Reus and Mats Hummels in the pecking order.

There were rumours in the summer that Borussia Dortmund could look to sell Thomas Delaney following the arrival of Jude Bellingham. But the robust midfielder has done his talking on the pitch, and is now an important player in Edin Terzic’s system.

Terzic also spoke about Mats Hummels’ recent comments during the press conference. Hummels criticised the team’s recent performances in an interview with SportBILD earlier this week, saying that they were making things too easy for their opponents.

"“Mats is always someone who leads the way,” Terzic said. “The most important thing in his statements was the word ‘we’, Mats always includes himself. That’s why it’s completely legitimate for me when he doesn’t point the finger at others, but raises his arm and takes responsibility.”"
