Borussia Dortmund will be aiming to keep their excellent start to 2021 going as they host Bundesliga’s bottom club Mainz 05 on Saturday.

Following their impressive 3-1 win over RB Leipzig last weekend, Borussia Dortmund will be looking to keep the momentum going as they close in on the three teams ahead of them in the Bundesliga standings. On Saturday, the Black and Yellows go up against a struggling Mainz 05 side.

Having won three games on the trot, things are finally looking up for Borussia Dortmund. Jadon Sancho and Marco Reus are finally finding their form, while Erling Haaland has picked up where he left off before his injury. Edin Terzic’s side are also looking sharp defensively, with Mats Hummels and Manuel Akanji impressing in recent games. And they will now be aiming to keep the winning run going as they take on Mainz.

While Borussia Dortmund have won their last three games, Mainz are winless in eight. The 05ers have slipped to the bottom of the Bundesliga standings following Schalke’s win last weekend. And new head coach Bo Svensson will be desperate for his first win in charge this weekend.

Mainz did manage to take a 2-0 lead away to Bayern Munich before crumbling in the second half just two weeks ago, so Borussia Dortmund certainly cannot afford to take them lightly.
