Players to Watch

Erling Haaland scored his first two goals of 2021 with a brace against RB Leipzig last weekend. The striker became the first player in Bundesliga history to reach 25 goals in just 25 appearances. And he will be licking his lips ahead of the game against one of the league’s worst defences.

Marco Reus played a vital role in Borussia Dortmund’s win over RB Leipzig. And he will no doubt be determined to continue his good run of form. The BVB skipper has excelled in his new, slightly deeper role since Edin Terzic took charge.

Another player who will be hungry to impress once again is Jadon Sancho. The Englishman has two goals and two assists each in the last two games. And he will fancy his chances of adding to that tally against Mainz.

The 05ers have struggled to score goals this season, and their key man will be Jean-Philippe Mateta. The 23 year old has scored seven of Mainz’ 14 league goals so far this season, and also found the net on his last visit to the Westfalenstadion.
