Borussia Dortmund: Michael Zorc not ruling out exits before transfer deadline
By Tushar Bahl
Michael Zorc did not want to rule anything out when speaking about possible player exits before Monday’s transfer deadline. The Borussia Dortmund sporting director was asked on Thursday whether the club would be active in the transfer window, with deadline day coming up. And while there aren’t any offers worth considering yet, Zorc said that that could change before Monday.
Mahmoud Dahoud is the only player being linked with a move away from Borussia Dortmund at the moment, with US Sassuolo, Olympique Marseille and AS Monaco thought to be showing an interest in his signature.
"“There is currently nothing on the table that we need to consider,” Zorc said. “There is still some time until Monday, I don’t want to rule anything out.”"
Zorc was also asked about Mats Hummels’ possible participation at the upcoming Olympic Games. The defender has been named in Germany’s list submitted to NADA and he could take up one of the three over-23s spots. But Zorc said that it is too early to comment on whether Hummels would be making the trip to Tokyo this summer.
"“Sebastian Kehl and I had a meeting with Olympic coach Stefan Kuntz. There he gave us his ideas and concepts. But it’s too early to give a concrete answer right now. Maybe Mats will still jump on the train in the direction of the European Championships. We’ll have to wait and see.”"
Edin Terzic leaves goalkeeper question open ahead of Borussia Dortmund’s clash against Augsburg
Borussia Dortmund head coach Edin Terzic refused to confirm whether Roman Bürki will start in goal for the Bundesliga game against FC Augsburg this weekend. It has been reported that Bürki could be at risk of being dropped this weekend. But Terzic did not want to comment on his starting XI two days before the game.
"“I’ve never done that until now and I’m not going to start today talking about what the lineup is going to be for a game that is in two days.”"
Borussia Dortmund face a must-win game against Augsburg this weekend as they look to bounce back after two straight defeats.
