Borussia Dortmund are reportedly considering signing a new goalkeeper to replace Roman Bürki in the summer. According to BILD, the BVB bosses already have three goalkeepers on their list of potential targets. The tabloid claims that Ajax goalkeeper André Onana, RB Leipzig’s Péter Gulácsi and SL Benfica’s Odysseas Vlachodimos are all attracting the interest of the Black and Yellows.

Roman Bürki’s status as Borussia Dortmund’s first-choice goalkeeper has been the subject of a lot of debate in recent weeks. The Swiss shot-stopper, who is currently out with a shoulder injury, has conceded 27 goals in 20 appearances across all competitions so far this season.

Roman Bürki has a Borussia Dortmund contract until the end of the 2022/23 season

Roman Bürki only signed a two year contract extension with Borussia Dortmund six months ago. But BILD report that those in charge at the club would like to sign a new number one due to the 30 year old’s lack of consistency. Marwin Hitz is currently BVB’s second choice goalkeeper, but his contract expires at the end of the season.

BILD add that Péter Gulácsi has a release clause in his contract and would be available for a fee in the range of 10-15 million euros. André Onana only has 18 months left on his Ajax contract, so the Dutch giants will probably look to sell him in the summer. While Odysseas Vlachodimos has a contract with Benfica until 2024, and will likely not come cheap.

It remains to be seen what the future holds for Bürki, and if these three targets are even wanted by Borussia Dortmund. But if this rumour is true, Der BVB could well have a new man between the sticks next season.
