Peter Gulacsi comments on RB Leipzig future amid Borussia Dortmund rumours

Peter Gulacsi has said that he is not looking to leave RB Leipzig, despite rumours linking him with a move to Borussia Dortmund. Gulacsi is thought to be a target for the Black and Yellows, who are reportedly looking to sign a new first-choice goalkeeper in the summer. His agent confirmed earlier this month that Gulacsi has a release clause in his contract which would allow him to leave RB Leipzig for a cut-price fee in the region of 10-15 million euros in the summer.
But the 30 year old feels very much at home with RB Leipzig, and can imagine staying with the club for the long-term.
"In an interview with Kicker, Gulacsi said: “I feel very much at home in Leipzig, and my family does too, it’s just perfect. I can very well imagine staying here for the long term. I found my way to Leipzig via England and Salzburg. A lot would have to happen for me to leave this path at my own request.”"
Gulacsi joined RB Leipzig in 2015 and has developed into one of the top goalkeepers in the Bundesliga. He has two and a half years remaining on his current contract with the Saxony based club.
Borussia Dortmund have been linked with a number of goalkeepers in recent weeks, with Gulacsi reportedly on their transfer target list along with SL Benfica’s Odysseas Vlachodimos and AFC Ajax’s André Onana. SS Lazio goalkeeper Thomas Strakosha said earlier this week that he would be interested in a move to the Black and Yellows.
Roman Bürki is currently Borussia Dortmund’s first-choice goalkeeper, but he could be replaced in the summer. Bürki only signed a contract extension in June, and his current deal expires in 2023. Marwin Hitz is the back-up goalkeeper, and he could leave on a free transfer in the summer with his contract due to expire at the end of the season.
