Confirmed Borussia Dortmund lineup for DFB-Pokal clash against Gladbach
By Tushar Bahl
A place in the semi-finals of the DFB-Pokal will be on the line as Borussia Dortmund take on Borussia Mönchengladbach on Tuesday. Games between these two sides are often entertaining, hard-fought affairs. And with so many talking points leading up to Tuesday’s game, we could be in for yet another fiery contest.
One of those storylines involves Marco Rose, who is set to swap Gladbach for Dortmund in the summer. The Foals have lost three straight games since the news of the move broke, and it is fair to say that fans aren’t happy with the 44 year old.
Borussia Dortmund go into the game in fine form. They have won each of their last three games, scoring ten goals in the process. Edin Terzic will have to make do without Manuel Akanji, as well as long-term absentees Axel Witsel and Marcel Schmelzer against Gladbach.
But Thomas Delaney has shaken off his illness to make his return to the starting XI in what is a big boost for Borussia Dortmund.
Here we take a look at how Borussia Dortmund could line up against Gladbach on Tuesday.
Goalkeeper: Marwin Hitz
With Roman Bürki no longer Borussia Dortmund’s clear first choice goalkeeper, Marwin Hitz is set to keep his place in goal on Tuesday. The 33 year old kept a clean sheet at the weekend, but Gladbach will offer a much tougher test to his goal.
The last time Dortmund faced Gladbach, Bürki had a game to forget. And fans will be hoping for an assured display from Hitz.
