Borussia Dortmund will have to make do without Jadon Sancho, Raphael Guerreiro and Gio Reyna for Saturday‘s crunch clash against Bayern Munich, with the trio not part of the traveling squad for the game.

Sancho and Guerreiro both had to be subbed off after suffering muscle injuries during Borussia Dortmund’s DFB-Pokal quarterfinal against Borussia Mönchengladbach. Borussia Dortmund have not yet revealed why Reyna has not traveled. The 18 year old was an unused substitute on Tuesday.

Not having Sancho and Guerreiro in the squad is a big blow for Borussia Dortmund. Sancho has been the Black and Yellows’ best attacking player since the turn of the year, with eight goals and seven assists to his name in 2021. Guerreiro has also been in fine form, and has four goals and nine assists this season.

Nico Schulz is likely to come into the starting XI in Guerreiro’s absence. While Thorgan Hazard is the favourite to replace Sancho. But the Belgian international is just coming back from a long-term injury, and it remains to be seen if he is ready to play 90 minutes. Julian Brandt could also be an option.

Manuel Akanji, Axel Witsel and Marcel Schmelzer will also miss Saturday’s Der Klassiker. Edin Terzic revealed during his pre-match press conference on Thursday that the Swiss centre-back is back in individual training.
