Borussia Dortmund are reportedly interested in signing Wolfsburg centre-back Maxence Lacroix, with reports in France claiming that he will be available for a fee of 30 million euros. But Wolfsburg sporting director Marcel Schäfer has denied those rumours, saying that there is no price tag set on any of their players. “That is false and simply not accurate,” Schäfer told Sportbuzzer.

Maxence Lacroix only joined Wolfsburg from French side FC Sochaux last summer for a fee of five million euros. But he has already established himself as an important player for the Wolves, and has been one of the breakout stars of the Bundesliga this season.

The 20 year old has made a total of 28 appearances this season for Wolfsburg, and has helped them keep a league high 12 clean sheets in the Bundesliga. No team has conceded fewer goals in the Bundesliga this season than Wolfsburg, and Lacroix has played a key role in their success.

Schäfer was also asked about how Lacroix can deal with all the speculation linking him with a move to Borussia Dortmund, and whether he can just tune it out.

"“I certainly hope so. I hope that’s the case with everyone, that what is said from the outside is faded out, especially since most of the things aren’t true. It’s simply the case that we are in the spotlight because of our performances. But again, none of our players have a price tag.”"

Lacroix still has more than three years left on his Wolfsburg contract. And with there being no release clause in his contract, Wolfsburg will not be under any pressure to sell him this summer.

It also remains to be seen whether Borussia Dortmund would be willing to spend the money required to sign him during this period of financial uncertainty.

The Black and Yellows are set to sign one centre-back though, with Soumaila Coulibaly expected to join on a free transfer from Paris St. Germain in the coming days.
