Borussia Dortmund have not yet made a decision on the future of Sergio Gomez, who is currently on loan at Spanish side SD Huesca. In an interview with Ruhr Nachrichten, Sebastian Kehl said that the BVB bosses are in constant contact with his agent. But it remains to be seen what the future holds for the highly rated midfielder.

"“We are following his development and are in constant contact with his advisor,” Kehl said. “At the moment, it’s difficult to predict what the situation will be like in the summer. But there will come a time when we will make decisions.”"

Sergio Gomez joined Borussia Dortmund from the Barcelona youth academy in January 2020. But he was limited to just three brief appearances off the bench before being loaned out to SD Huesca ahead of the 2019/20 season. He helped the Aragon based club win promotion to La Liga last season. And his loan spell was then extended by another year last summer.

Gomez has made 20 La Liga appearances for Huesca so far this season. But most of those appearances have come from the bench, and he has only been in the starting XI twice.

The 20 year old has yet to score his first goal of the season, and has one assist to his name. His side are rooted to the bottom of the table, and are four points adrift of safety with ten games to go in the season.

Gomez will likely return to Borussia Dortmund in the summer, and it is possible that he could be given the opportunity to impress incoming head coach Marco Rose during pre-season. But with his contract expiring at the end of next season, a decision on his long-term future is set to be made in the summer.
