Marius Wolf reportedly wants to return to Borussia Dortmund at the end of his loan spell with FC Köln. This is being reported by BILD, who claim that the versatile wide player is hoping to make a fresh start under incoming head coach Marco Rose next season.

The tabloid adds that FC Köln do not have a purchase option for Wolf, and another loan deal is currently not an option for the player.

Marius Wolf joined Borussia Dortmund from Eintracht Frankfurt for a fee of just five million euros in 2018. He was limited to a bit-part role in his debut season with the club and made just 23 appearances, scoring one goal. He then joined Hertha Berlin on loan last season, before returning to Dortmund in the summer.

The 25 year old spent pre-season with the Black and Yellows, before joining FC Köln on a season long loan deal in October. He has made a total of 25 appearances for the Billy Goats this season, scoring two goals and providing two assists.

It remains to be seen what Borussia Dortmund’s plans are with Wolf. Sporting director Michael Zorc said earlier this month that a decision on the winger’s future will be made in the summer. Wolf still has two years remaining on his Borussia Dortmund contract.

Before he returns to Borussia Dortmund in the summer, Wolf will be looking to help FC Köln avoid relegation. Köln are currently in the relegation play-off spot in the Bundesliga standings, with eight games to go until the end of the season.
