Borussia Dortmund are set to be without Jadon Sancho for the first leg of their UEFA Champions League quarterfinal against Manchester City. The England international has been out of action with a muscle injury since the start of March, and Edin Terzic confirmed during his pre-match press conference on Thursday that he will not be fit in time for next week’s highly awaited clash.

"“With Jadon, we hope that the situation with him will change in the next seven to ten days,” Terzic said."

Ruhr Nachrichten report that Sancho will be back in Dortmund this week after working on his recovery in Dubai. But the earliest possible return date for him would be the second leg of the Champions League tie against Manchester City on April 14.

Not having Sancho in the squad for the next two or three games will be a big blow for Borussia Dortmund. The 21 year old has been one of the Black and Yellows’ best players since the turn of the year, scoring eight goals and providing seven assists in just 13 appearances in 2021.

One player who could be fit to play this weekend is Mateu Morey. Edin Terzic confirmed during the press conference that the Spaniard is back in training, and he could be in contention to make the squad for the six-pointer against Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday. The right-back missed the game against FC Köln before the international break with a muscle injury.

Marco Reus and Raphael Guerreiro are also expected to be in the squad this weekend, having returned to team training on Tuesday. But Youssoufa Moukoko, who is dealing with a bruised shin, will not be available.
