Borussia Dortmund will be looking to build on their encouraging performance against Manchester City as they take on VfB Stuttgart on Saturday.

The Black and Yellows have won just one of their last five games, although they did show some steel and resolve during their 2-1 defeat to Manchester City on Tuesday. But now they must get back to winning ways this weekend if they are to have any chance of finishing in the top four this season.

Beating Stuttgart certainly won’t be easy though. The Swabians are enjoying an impressive first season back in the Bundesliga, and find themselves in with a good chance of playing European football next season. They also handed Borussia Dortmund a 5-1 thrashing in the reverse fixture, which led to the end of the Lucien Favre era.

Borussia Dortmund will again be without Jadon Sancho, who is on the road to recovery from his muscle injury. Youssoufa Moukoko, Axel Witsel, Dan-Axel Zagadou and Marcel Schmelzer remain out with their respective injuries.

Stuttgart have several injury issues of their own, with key forwards Nicolas Gonzalez and Silas Wamangituka both out injured.
