Borussia Dortmund will not be signing Memphis Depay this summer

Borussia Dortmund are not interested in signing Memphis Depay, as they consider the forward’s salary and signing bonus demands to be too high. This is being reported by Sport1’s Patrick Berger, who adds that FC Barcelona are still the favourites to sign the Dutch international.
Memphis Depay has been heavily linked with Borussia Dortmund over the last 12 months. He was reportedly considered as one of the BVB bosses’ preferred targets to replace Jadon Sancho last summer. But Sancho ended up staying in Dortmund, and so a move for Depay never materialised.
SportBILD had earlier reported that the Black and Yellows could look to renew their interest in signing the Olympique Lyonnais forward if Sancho leaves this summer.
Depay’s contract with Olympique Lyonnais is set to expire at the end of the season, and so he will be available on a free transfer. A number of big clubs are said to be interested in signing the 27 year old, including FC Barcelona, Juventus and Paris St. Germain
Depay has 18 goals and nine assists to his name in 34 appearances this season. Lyon are currently in fourth place in the Ligue 1 standings, and Depay will be looking to help them finish in the top three and qualify for the Champions League before he leaves on a free transfer in the summer.
Borussia Dortmund will likely be in the market for a new forward this summer. In addition to Depay, the Black and Yellows have also been linked with moves for Donyell Malen and Christos Tzolis in recent weeks.
