Erling Haaland remains an injury doubt for next Thursday’s DFB-Pokal final between Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig.

Haaland has missed each of Borussia Dortmund’s last two games after suffering a muscle injury during the game against Wolfsburg two weeks ago. And Edin Terzic gave an update on the striker’s injury during the press conference following the win over RB Leipzig on Saturday. The BVB head coach said that he hopes to welcome Haaland back to team training early next week.

"“It is also surprising for us. Erling took an unfortunate blow to a bad spot in the Wolfsburg game. A lot of fluid has formed and this fluid has caused pain. But the fluid is getting less and less now. We hope that he will be able to return to team training at the beginning or middle of next week and will then be an option for the cup final.”"

One player who is set to miss the DFB-Pokal final is Marwin Hitz. The 33 year old suffered a knee injury in the first half against RB Leipzig on Saturday after a collision with Manuel Akanji. He was able to carry on till half-time, but was replaced by Roman Bürki for the second half. According to Ruhr Nachrichten, Hitz will now miss the remaining three games of the season.

Mahmoud Dahoud also had to be subbed off during Saturday’s game with a muscle problem. But Terzic said that his substitution was more of a precautionary measure. “Mo was tired and felt his muscles a bit,” Terzic said. “If he sleeps well today and regenerates well tomorrow, we expect him to be available on Thursday.”
