Borussia Dortmund are up to fourth place in the Bundesliga standings following Eintracht Frankfurt’s 1-1 draw against Mainz 05.

Goals from Marco Reus and Jadon Sancho (x2) helped Borussia Dortmund earn a 3-2 win over RB Leipzig on Saturday. Eintracht Frankfurt needed a win against Mainz 05 on Sunday to keep hold of fourth place. But Adi Hütter’s could only manage a 1-1 draw against their local rivals.

The result means that the Black and Yellows are now up to fourth place in the Bundesliga standings.

Borussia Dortmund have 58 points from 32 matches, with the Eagles now one point behind. Wolfsburg occupy third place with 60 points to their name. And Bayer Leverkusen are all but out of the top four race following their goalless draw against Werder Bremen on Saturday.

Borussia Dortmund and Wolfsburg both have a goal difference of +25, which is superior to Eintracht Frankfurt’s goal difference of +15.

The Bundesliga top four race remains fascinatingly poised and looks set to go down to the wire. All three teams have tricky fixtures coming up in the final two matchdays, and we could still see some more twists and turns in the race to qualify for the UEFA Champions League.

Borussia Dortmund will make the trip to Mainz 05 next weekend, before ending their season at home to Bayer Leverkusen. While Eintracht Frankfurt are due to take on Schalke next weekend. They will then play SC Freiburg at home on the final matchday of the season.
