Borussia Dortmund dominated RB Leipzig in the DFB-Pokal final, with doubles from both Jadon Sancho and Erling Haaland sealing a fifth Pokal title.

A convincing and efficient first half performance put Borussia Dortmund well on their way and gave them room for error in what was a rather shaky second half. The win marks Edin Terzic’s season as head coach with a major trophy, and it was Dortmund’s first DFB-Pokal title since their 2017 victory.

The two sides also met at the weekend, with Dortmund letting slip a 2-0 lead before a late Sancho winner gave them a 3-2 win. The weekend’s scare seemed to have helped the Black and Yellows on Thursday, as they pushed hard to get that 3-0 goal lead going into the break. Leipzig had chances in the second half and eventually managed to find the back of the net through Dani Olmo, but Dortmund held on before Haaland’s second goal on the night gave the game a comfortable ending.

The performance was fit for the occasion, and we look at two of the big takeaways from yesterday’s win, to go with the obvious celebration of winning the cup.
