Five Borussia Dortmund players were in action in international friendlies on Sunday. Jadon Sancho, Jude Bellingham, Thomas Delaney and Thorgan Hazard all enjoyed wins. But Erling Haaland and Norway tasted defeat.
Jadon Sancho returned to the England starting XI for their warm-up game against Romania and delivered an encouraging performance on the wing. The Borussia Dortmund forward hit the woodwork with a fine curling effort in the first half. His dribbling and link-up play caused the Romania defenders a lot of problems.
Sancho made way for Jude Bellingham in the second half. And the midfielder came close to scoring his first senior England goal in the final stages of the game. But his shot from close range was cleared off the line.
Denmark earned a 2-0 win over Bosnia and Herzegovina, with Thomas Delaney coming on for the final 30 minutes of the game. Belgium also continued their preparations for the Euros with a win, as Romelu Lukaku’s first half goal helped them beat Croatia 1-0. Thorgan Hazard came on in the 71st minute.
Erling Haaland and Norway suffered a 2-1 defeat to Greece in their final game of the summer. The Borussia Dortmund striker was on the pitch for 90 minutes, but wasn’t able to find the back of the net.
Haaland can now look forward to a well deserved break before Borussia Dortmund begin their pre-season training next month. While Sancho, Bellingham, Delaney and Hazard will all be involved in the upcoming European Championships, and will miss the start of pre-season training as a result.
