Jose Mourinho has heaped big praise on Jude Bellingham, saying that the Borussia Dortmund midfielder ‘has something of Frank Lampard about him’.

Jude Bellingham is coming off an incredible debut season with Borussia Dortmund. The 17 year old made an immediate impact following his summer move from Birmingham City, and established himself as a vital player in the BVB starting XI as the season progressed. As a result of his excellent performances for the Black and Yellows, the midfielder was voted the VDV Newcomer of the Season by his fellow professionals in Germany.

And now Jose Mourinho has praised the young midfielder for his maturity and ability to make an impact on both ends of the pitch. In his column for the Sun, the former Chelsea, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur head coach said:

"“While it’s very dangerous to compare players, I do think Bellingham has something of Frank Lampard about him. He defends well as a midfield player but then he has the potential to be offensive.”“I like him very much. He is a box-to-box player, that old-school profile. I love everything about Bellingham. I can’t believe his age, only 17. The way he plays, the way he brings himself into the game, shows so much maturity.”"

Mourinho also revealed that he was interested in signing Bellingham while in charge of Tottenham Hotspur, but said that Borussia Dortmund did a phenomenal job to sign him from Birmingham City last summer.

Bellingham is part of the England squad for the Euros, and could become the youngest player to ever play in the tournament. And Mourinho is convinced that the Borussia Dortmund midfielder will have a big role to play for the Three Lions this summer.
