No contact between Borussia Dortmund and Lazio over Julian Brandt transfer
Despite rumors surrounding Julian Brandt’s exit from the Westfalenstadion, Borussia Dortmund have not yet received any enquiries from Lazio or any other clubs.
Julian Brandt’s name continues to circle amongst the maelstrom of rumors surrounding Borussia Dortmund this summer. It was initially noted that Lazio were looking to make a move for Brandt, who has been out of form this season for Die Schwarzgelben, with incoming manager Maurizio Sarri very interested in signing the player.
Despite this reported interest, there have been conflicting reports regarding any potential offers that may have been put forth by interested clubs. While some reports in Italy have indicated that a bid from Lazio that took the form of a loan with an option to buy has been rejected, it is now being reported that there has been no bid at all.
According to Ruhr Nachrichten, Borussia Dortmund have not received any offers for Brandt from Lazio or any other potential buyers. They further go on to say that a loan would not be acceptable for the Black and Yellows anyway. This makes sense as Dortmund would likely want to reinvest money right away to replace Brandt, should he leave. Only a lucrative offer would make the BVB bosses consider selling the German international this summer. There have also been no contract talks between Lazio and Brandt as of yet.
It is refreshing to see that (as of now) it looks like Brandt will be getting another chance with the team. The playmaker himself posted a photo on instagram on Monday with the words “Looking forward to the start of training with BVB” in the caption. He will get his chance to impress under Marco Rose starting from next week.
