Mahmoud Dahoud has been one of Borussia Dortmund’s best players since the turn of the year. Now he looks set to be rewarded with a contract extension.
According to Ruhr Nachrichten, Mahmoud Dahoud’s representatives met with Borussia Dortmund bosses Michael Zorc and Sebastian Kehl on Monday to hold talks regarding the midfielder’s future. The 25 year old wants to extend his contract. And it can be heard from the player’s environment that only small details are still left to be clarified, the newspaper adds.
WAZ report that Dahoud’s extension is imminent. Despite interest from other clubs, the midfielder wants to stay at Borussia Dortmund. He is even ready to take a pay cut to extend his contract.
Dahoud’s current contract with Borussia Dortmund is due to expire at the end of the upcoming season. So the news of the likely extension is a timely one for both the club and the player.
Dahoud has enjoyed an impressive turnaround in recent months, going from a bench warmer to a regular starter in the team. His Borussia Dortmund future looked to be grim following a training ground argument with Edin Terzic in January. But he fought his way back into the team and established himself as an important part of the BVB midfield in the second half of last season.
Dahoud played a vital role in Borussia Dortmund’s DFB-Pokal win and top four finish last season. And now he is set for a long-term contract extension.
Ruhr Nachrichten add that the news of the extension could even be made official in a matter of days. With his future set to be sorted soon, the midfielder can look forward to playing a key role under new head coach Marco Rose next season.
