Borussia Dortmund reportedly interested in signing Marcel Sabitzer
Borussia Dortmund are reportedly interested in signing Marcel Sabitzer, who is expected to leave RB Leipzig this summer.
With his contract set to expire at the end of the upcoming season and an extension unlikely, Marcel Sabitzer is likely to leave RB Leipzig this summer. The midfielder has a release clause of around 50 million euros in his contract, but the Saxony based club are ready to sell him for a cut-price fee in the region of 20 million euros. And SportBILD claim that Borussia Dortmund have expressed an interest in signing him.
Sabitzer is coming off an impressive season with RB Leipzig. The 27 year old made a total of 39 appearances across all competitions last season, and helped Leipzig finish second in the Bundesliga standings. He scored nine goals and provided seven assists for Julian Nagelsmann’s side.
Sabitzer now reportedly wants a new challenge and is looking to leave RB Leipzig this summer. Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal and AC Milan are among the other clubs who are interested in signing the Austrian international.
It remains to be seen if Borussia Dortmund’s interest in Sabitzer is genuine. The Black and Yellows already have a number of quality midfielders in their ranks and the competition for places is very high. With limited money available to spend this summer, it is likely that other positions will be given more of a priority.
Borussia Dortmund are also said to be interested in signing Sabitzer’s RB Leipzig teammate Marcel Halstenberg. The German international is free to leave this summer for a fee of around ten million euros.
