Mainz 05 sporting director Christian Heidel has rejected claims that Borussia Dortmund have made an offer for Jeremiah St. Juste.

The Allgemeine Zeitung claimed on Friday that Borussia Dortmund have made an official bid for Mainz 05 defender Jeremiah St. Juste. The newspaper added that the bid is just below Mainz’s asking price. But Mainz 05 sporting director Christian Heidel has quickly moved to deny the report.

When asked by Sport1 about an official offer from Borussia Dortmund for Jeremiah St. Juste, Heidel said, “There has been no offer from BVB.”

Sport1 add that even though the Black and Yellows haven’t made an official bid yet, they have held talks with Mainz regarding a move for St. Juste. Mainz would like to keep the 24 year old, who has two years left on his current contract. However, they would be open to selling him if they receive a fee in the region of 15-20 million.

St. Juste is coming off an impressive season with Mainz. He was ever-present in the 05ers’ defence and helped them stave off relegation from the Bundesliga. The former Feyenoord defender was also the fastest player in the Bundesliga last season, clocking a top-speed of 36.10 km/h. Bayer Leverkusen and Lazio are also said to be interested in signing him.

St. Juste is primarily a centre-back, but is also capable of playing on the right. His versatility will certainly be appealing for Borussia Dortmund, who are lacking cover at right-back following Mateu Morey’s long-term injury. RB Leipzig’s Marcel Halstenberg is another defender who has been linked with a move to Dortmund in recent weeks.
