New Borussia Dortmund signing Gregor Kobel is already back in training, just ten days after Switzerland’s elimination from Euro 2020.

Gregor Kobel has cut short his post Euro 2020 break, and was at Borussia Dortmund’s training ground in Brackel on Monday afternoon to undergo his performance diagnostic tests. According to Ruhr Nachrichten, the goalkeeper should take part in his first training session on Tuesday. And it is quite possible that he could make his debut during Saturday’s Cup der Traditionen double header, where the Black and Yellows will go up against VfL Bochum and MSV Duisburg.

Kobel’s early return to training will be a big boost for Marco Rose and Borussia Dortmund. The 23 year old will be BVB’s first-choice goalkeeper in the upcoming season. So having him available for the majority of pre-season will be great for the team.

Erling Haaland is also set to undergo his performance diagnostic tests soon. The Norwegian international returned to Dortmund on Sunday and will also be looking to feature in this weekend’s pre-season games.

Kobel’s early return probably means that Roman Bürki will not play again in a Borussia Dortmund shirt. Ruhr Nachrichten add that the BVB bosses want to keep the risk of him suffering an injury as low as possible, in order to ensure that any potential transfer is not put into danger. Bürki is free to leave for a cut-price fee of five million euros this summer.
