Michael Zorc has said that there is a “high probability” that Borussia Dortmund will sign another player this summer, amid rumours linking the team with a move for Donyell Malen.
Borussia Dortmund are in the market for a new forward as they look to replace Jadon Sancho, who is on the verge of joining Manchester United. PSV Eindhoven forward Donyell Malen is thought to be the BVB bosses’ top target. And it was reported earlier this week that personal terms have already been agreed with the Netherlands international.
Borussia Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc was asked about the Donyell Malen rumours ahead of Saturday’s pre-season friendly against VfL Bochum. While Zorc did not want to get drawn into the specifics, he did say that the chances of a new player arriving this summer are very high.
"“I read about it all the time and follow it with very closely,” Zorc told Sky Sport. “But we don’t want to comment on it. There is a high probability that we will sign another player. But you can just let yourself be surprised.”"
In addition to a forward, Borussia Dortmund are also reportedly looking to bring in a versatile defender this summer. Jeremiah St. Juste and Marcel Halstenberg are two players who have been linked with the Black and Yellows in recent weeks. Although it looks like a move for a new defender will only be made if the financial opportunity arises.
Borussia Dortmund continue their preparations for the new season with a trip to Switzerland next week for a week-long training camp. Marco Rose will have a much bigger squad in Bad Ragaz, as the players who took part in the European Championships start to return. Michael Zorc and co. will certainly be hoping that they can announce the arrival of Sancho’s replacement before the start of the training camp.
