Borussia Dortmund: Nnamdi Collins injury not expected to be serious
Borussia Dortmund do not expect Nnamdi Collins to be out for a long time after the defender suffered a knee injury on Saturday.
Highly rated defender Nnamdi Collins had to be subbed off during Borussia Dortmund’s pre-season friendly against VfL Bochum after twisting his knee. But according to Ruhr Nachrichten, his injury is said to be a capsular one and he is not expected to be out for a long time.
Collins will undergo an MRI exam on Monday which will bring full clarity. The 17 year old is expected to travel to Bad Ragaz for Borussia Dortmund’s training camp with the rest of the first team squad next Friday.
Nnamdi Collins is set to be promoted to the first team squad for the upcoming season. So Marco Rose will be hoping that he can return to action as soon as possible. Borussia Dortmund are already light in the centre-back department. Dan-Axel Zagadou and Soumaila Coulibaly are both set to miss the start of the new season, while there are also question marks over the fitness of Mats Hummels. And Manuel Akanji is on his post-Euro 2020 break.
Ruhr Nachrichten also add that Youssoufa Moukoko will make his return to team training next week. The 16 year old has been out since late March with a foot ligament injury. But he will also make the trip to Switzerland.
Also closing in on his return is Raphael Guerreiro. The Portugal international is expected back in Dortmund next week ahead of the start of the training camp.
