Borussia Dortmund are reportedly interested in signing Juventus centre-back Merih Demiral, who has a price tag of 35 million euros

This is being reported by the reliable Fabrizio Romano, who adds that Borussia Dortmund are preparing a bid for Merih Demiral. Italian side Atalanta are also an option for the Juventus defender, but they will only make a move for him if Cristian Romero leaves this summer. The report of Dortmund’s interest in Demiral has also been confirmed by Italian journalist Gianluca di Marzio.

Merih Demiral, who joined Juventus in 2019, has three years left on his current contract. The 23 year old was limited to just 24 appearances across all competitions last season. He finds himself behind Matthijs de Ligt, Giorgio Chiellini and Leonardo Bonucci in the pecking order in Turin.

It is no secret that Borussia Dortmund would like to sign a new centre-back this summer if the financial opportunity arises. Marco Rose does not have any first-team centre-backs available to him at the moment. Dan-Axel Zagadou and Soumaila Coulibaly are both expected to miss the start of the season. While Mats Hummels is dealing with a patellar tendon issue. And Nnamdi Collins has also been ruled out for weeks after injuring his knee during the pre-season friendly against VfL Bochum.

It remains to be seen how real Borussia Dortmund’s interest is in signing Demiral, or how feasible a potential move would be. Juventus’ asking price of 35 million euros is a lot more than what BVB would probably be willing to spend (especially during this period of financial uncertainty).
