Thomas Delaney faces a decision on his future with signs pointing to Borussia Dortmund exit

As Thomas Delaney makes his return to training, he has a big decision to make regarding his Borussia Dortmund future. Signs currently point to an exit.
Thomas Delaney faces an uncertain future at Borussia Dortmund with less than one year left on his contract. The BVB bosses would like to make a decision on his future this summer. And the Denmark international is toying with the idea of a move. According to Ruhr Nachrichten, at the moment the signs are that the midfielder will leave the Black and Yellows this summer.
Delaney has always been attracted by the thought of playing in the English Premier League. And a few clubs from England are reportedly interested in signing him. Norwich City, Crystal Palace and Southampton have all been linked with a move for the combative midfielder in recent weeks. There is also interest from Italy, with Jose Mourinho reportedly looking to bring him to AS Roma.
Borussia Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc did not want get into any details when asked about Delaney’s future by the newspaper. “The contract runs for another year, we will speak with him,” Zorc said.
Delaney showed his quality and leadership during the European Championships, where he helped Denmark make a stunning run to the semi-finals. And now he faces an important decision about his club future in the coming days.
Borussia Dortmund have big competition for places in midfield. In addition to Delaney, the likes of Jude Bellingham, Axel Witsel, Mahmoud Dahoud and Emre Can can all play in the holding midfield role. So if Delaney does leave this summer, chances are that BVB will look to reinvest that money to bolster their squad in other positions.
