The Borussia Dortmund women’s team made history on Sunday afternoon as they played their first ever game. And they put in an impressive performance en route to a 3-1 win over TSV 1860 Munich.

A total of 1,300 supporters turned up at the sold out Stadion Rote Erde to watch the Borussia Dortmund women’s team make history on Sunday. Eleven months after Borussia Dortmund announced plans to establish a women’s team, the players took to the pitch to play their first ever game. The Black and Yellows took on TSV 1860 Munich in their first ever pre-season friendly, and cruised to a 3-1 win.

The Borussia Dortmund women’s team dominated the game right from the start and created a host of good chances in the first half.

The first goal in BVB Frauen’s history arrived in the 15th minute, when Ann-Kathrin Lau found the back of the net with an excellent strike from the right side. Lea Rogge-Herper then doubled her team’s lead with a well placed effort into the top corner in the 39th minute.

Borussia Dortmund Frauen continued to dominate proceedings in the second half, and Annika Herbig made it 3-0 from close range in the 49th minute. Veronika Ecker pulled a goal back for 1860 Munich with 15 minutes to go in the game. But Thomas Sulewski’s side claimed a fairly comfortable win in the end.
