Borussia Dortmund to face FC Ingolstadt in the second round of the DFB-Pokal
Borussia Dortmund will go up against 2. Bundesliga side FC Ingolstadt in the second round of the DFB-Pokal.
Borussia Dortmund will continue their defence of the DFB-Pokal with a home game against FC Ingolstadt in the second round. The tie will take place on October 26/27.
Borussia Dortmund earned an impressive 3-0 win over third division side SV Wehen Wiesbaden in the first round of the 2021/22 DFB-Pokal, with Erling Haaland scoring a hat-trick. And Marco Rose’s side will be looking for another straight-forward win in the second round.
FC Ingolstadt beat FC Erzgebirge Aue 2-1 in the first round of the DFB-Pokal. The Bavaria based side earned promotion to the second division last season after finishing third in the 3. Liga. They currently find themselves in 16th place in the 2. Bundesliga standings.
Borussia Dortmund and FC Ingolstadt have faced each other four times in the past. The Black and Yellows came out on top in three of those games, while one ended in a 3-3 draw. But previous meetings and form count for very little when it comes to the DFB-Pokal. And Ingolstadt will be aiming to pull off a huge upset against the Bundesliga giants.
As always, the DFB-Pokal draw delivered some fascinating and mouth-watering ties. Borussia Mönchengladbach will go up against Bayern Munich in what is undoubtedly the pick of the second round fixtures. Last season’s finalists RB Leipzig will take on fourth division side SV Babelsberg. Bayer Leverkusen will battle 2. Bundesliga side Karlsruher SC. While the struggling Hertha Berlin also face a tricky away game against Regionalliga side Preußen Münster.
