Borussia Dortmund internationals: Erling Haaland scores hat-trick, Donyell Malen also on target
By Tushar Bahl
The Borussia Dortmund strikers were in fine form on Tuesday evening, as Erling Haaland, Donyell Malen and Youssoufa Moukoko all scored for their national teams.
Erling Haaland continued his stunning run of form as he scored a hat-trick to lead Norway to a 5-1 win over Gibraltar. The Borussia Dortmund number nine scored his first goal in the 27th minute, before doubling his tally five minutes before the break. He then completed his hat-trick in the 91st minute to give Norway’s hopes of qualifying for the FIFA World Cup a big boost.
Haaland has now scored 11 goals in just 8 appearances for club and country this season.
Donyell Malen scored his first goal of the season and helped the Netherlands earn a 6-1 win over Turkey. The 22 year old came off the bench and made it 6-0 in the 90th minute with a well taken finish into the bottom corner.
Netherlands’ win over Turkey sees them go top in Group G. Norway have the same number of points as Louis van Gaal’s side, but they are currently second due to their inferior goal difference. The winner of each group will automatically qualify for the World Cup. While the second placed team will have the chance to qualify through the play-offs.
Youssoufa Moukoko scored his third goal in just his second game for the Germany U-21s as they came from behind to beat Latvia 3-1 in the 2023 UEFA European U-21 Championship qualifiers.
Raphael Guerreiro helped Portugal earn a 3-0 win over Azerbaijan in their World Cup qualifier. The Euro 2016 winners currently occupy the top spot in Group A.
