Youssoufa Moukoko was on target once again for the Germany U-21s as they enjoyed a come from behind 3-1 win over Latvia on Tuesday.

Just days after becoming the youngest player to ever play and score for the Germany U-21s, Youssoufa Moukoko started once again as Stefan Kuntz’s side went up against Latvia in their second qualifier for the 2023 UEFA European U-21 Championship.

Germany U-21s did not make the best of starts to the game, and Latvia took the lead in the eighth minute through Iļja Korotkovs. Mainz 05’s Jonathan Burkardt then missed his penalty in the 24th minute. But Youssoufa Moukoko stepped up to get his side back on level terms just moments later. The Borussia Dortmund striker found the back of the net with a fine low strike from the edge of the box for his third goal in just his second appearance for the defending European U-21 champions.

Moukoko’s goal gave Germany the momentum boost they needed to go on and win the game. TSG Hoffenheim midifelder Angelo Stiller made it 2-1 in the 41st minute, before Schalke’s Malick Thiaw added a third shortly after the start of the second half.

With two wins in two, Germany U-21s find themselves at the top of Group B. The winners of each group will automatically qualify for the 2023 UEFA European Under-21 Championship.
