Marco Rose has confirmed that Borussia Dortmund will have to make do without Gio Reyna until the next international break after the midfielder suffered a muscle injury on international duty.

Gio Reyna has been ruled out until the next international break after suffering a muscle injury while playing for the United States last week. The Borussia Dortmund midfielder injured himself during the USMNT’s World Cup qualifier against El Salvador. And Marco Rose confirmed on Thursday that he now faces some time out on the sidelines.

At the pre-match press conference ahead of Saturday’s Bundesliga clash against Bayer Leverkusen, Rose said:

"“Gio Reyna is injured and will be out for the next few games. We hope that he will be back after the next international break.”"

In addition to Reyna, Borussia Dortmund will also be without Emre Can, Thorgan Hazard and Nico Schulz for the game against Bayer Leverkusen. Thomas Meunier is also a doubt after suffering a muscle injury on international duty. While new signing Marin Pongracic is struggling with back problems.

Marco Rose confirmed that Can will be out for a few weeks with a torn muscle fibre, and added that Hazard and Schulz are a few days away from returning to team training.

But there is some good news, as Marco Reus and Mats Hummels are both expected to be in the squad this weekend. Although it remains to be seen if Hummels will be fit enough to start. The defender missed the entire pre-season and only returned to team training on Tuesday. So he is unlikely to be 100% fit just yet.
