Defenders: Thomas Meunier, Manuel Akanji, Mats Hummels, Raphael Guerreiro

Mats Hummels’ return means that Borussia Dortmund have all four of their first-choice defenders now available. The German international showed a bit of rust against Besiktas. But he will be back to his best before long.

Manuel Akanji has made a solid start to the season and has become one of the first names on the team sheet under Marco Rose. Hummels and Akanji will have to be at their best against Union Berlin strike duo Taiwo Awoniyi and Max Kruse.

Thomas Meunier showed how good he can be with a strong performance against Besiktas. He has two assists in the last two games, and will get plenty of opportunities make forward runs down the right flank and deliver crosses into the box on Sunday.

Raphael Guerreiro will start at left-back once again. He was on target the last time Borussia Dortmund faced Union Berlin. And he will have an important role to play if the Black and Yellows are to get the three points this weekend.
