Raphael Guerreiro has said that his goal in Borussia Dortmund’s 4-2 win over Union Berlin on Sunday is the most beautiful one of his life.

Borussia Dortmund fans are used to seeing Raphael Guerreiro create magic moments down the left wing week in, week out. But everyone was left absolutely stunned with his strike against Union Berlin on Sunday.

Guerreiro found himself in a little bit of space inside the box after a lovely sequence of passes, albeit at a very tight angle on the left side. Most players would have decided to cross the ball. But Guerreiro took on the shot and expertly found the far corner of the net with a spectacular angled volley.

It was a truly sublime finish from the Portuguese international, and it came just one week after his stunning free-kick goal against Bayer Leverkusen. Guerreiro’s Borussia Dortmund teammates were left in awe of his strike, with Marco Reus describing the goal as ‘incredible’.

Guerreiro was asked to choose between the two goals on Monday, and he said that his goal against Union Berlin was a once in a lifetime goal.

"“I think the goal against Union Berlin was a crazy goal,” Guerreiro told BVB-TV. “It’s the most beautiful goal of my life. Of course, I will pick that for sure. I think you can score a goal like that just one time in your life and that was the day yesterday.”"

Guerreiro also praised fellow full-back Thomas Meunier for his impressive run of form in recent games, and said that the Belgian international is finally showing what he is capable of after a difficult first season at Borussia Dortmund.

"“It’s nice to see Thomas at this level because it was a hard time for him last season. Now he is showing to everyone what he can do.”"

Both Meunier and Guerreiro have key roles in Marco Rose’s system, and they seem to be doing an excellent job at the moment. And the hope will be that they can continue their attacking form in the weeks to come.
