Borussia Dortmund have confirmed that Erling Haaland will miss Saturday’s game against FC Augsburg as he continues to struggle with a thigh injury.

Erling Haaland injured his thigh last week and has missed Borussia Dortmund’s last two games as a result. It has now been confirmed that the striker will also miss this weekend’s Bundesliga clash against FC Augsburg. Marco Rose said during his pre-match press conference that the pain in Haaland’s thigh is still too strong for him to be able to play.

The Borussia Dortmund head coach also confirmed that Haaland will be missing Norway’s upcoming World Cup qualifiers. The 21 year old was named in the Norway squad earlier this week. But he will now use the next two weeks to rest and recover in Dortmund.

"“I think some rest will do him a lot of good now,” Rose said. “He will stay with us and not travel to the national team.”"

Haaland has scored 11 goals in just eight appearances for Borussia Dortmund this season. In the two games without him so far, the Black and Yellows have managed to score just one goal. But Dortmund will still fancy their chances of getting the job done against a struggling FC Augsburg side, especially at home.

Marco Rose also confirmed during his press conference that Emre Can will be back in the squad against Augsburg. The midfielder has endured a difficult time with injuries this season, and the hope will be that he can get back to full fitness over the international break.

But the Augsburg game also comes too soon for Gio Reyna. Marco Rose said that he hopes to have the USMNT international back in time for the game against Mainz 05 following the international break.
