Marco Rose was pleased with Borussia Dortmund’s overall performance in their 2-1 win over FC Augsburg on Saturday.

Borussia Dortmund were made to work hard by FC Augsburg on Saturday, but managed to come away with the three points in the end. Goals from Raphael Guerreiro and Julian Brandt helped the Black and Yellows earn a 2-1 win. Marco Rose was pleased with his side’s overall performance against Augsburg and the patience they showed after conceding the equaliser.

"“We were on the right track after going 1-0 up. The equaliser then deflated us a bit. The team then reacted well and kept their patience. We had several opportunities to put the game to bed after going 2-1 up. All in all, I’m happy with the performance. It was a very good, very intense Bundesliga match from both teams. We can now take a breather during the international break.”"

Marco Rose also praised Julian Brandt, and said that the playmaker offered a lot to their game. Brandt scored what proved to be the winner for Borussia Dortmund early in the second half, but Rose was also quick to highlight his defensive work.

"“He played well and scored a good goal,” Rose said. “Jule can always be counted on for moments like that. He offered a lot to our game and worked hard without the ball.”"

Rose also thanked the 41,000 Borussia Dortmund supporters who spurred the team to victory against Augsburg at the Signal Iduna Park on Saturday.

"“The fans helped us and carried us through difficult phases in the game when we were flagging because it has been a tough week with the midweek game. We are very happy that things are improving and look forward to having a full stadium again as soon as possible.”"

The new COVID-19 regulations in North Rhine-Westphalia mean that Borussia Dortmund will be able to welcome close to 70,000 fans at the Signal Iduna Park following the international break.

But for now, Borussia Dortmund can look forward to a two-week break that will allow the players not involved on international duty to recharge their batteries. Mats Hummels, Thomas Meunier and Marius Wolf all had to be subbed off in the game against Augsburg after picking up injuries. And Marco Rose will certainly be hoping that his injured players will have recovered after the international break.
