Borussia Dortmund are said to be interested in signing RB Salzburg youngster Karim Adeyemi. But they face competition from the likes of Bayern Munich and Liverpool

Karim Adeyemi is a player making waves in Europe this season, waves that some of the world’s biggest clubs have decided to take note of. Across all competitions this season, Adeyemi has already racked up 11 goals and 2 assists, 8 of those goals coming in the Austrian Bundesliga over the course of 10 appearances.

Sky Sport report that Adeyemi’s form has sparked the interest of Bayern Munich, RB Leipzig and Liverpool. But most importantly for our purposes, Borussia Dortmund have also reportedly shown concrete interest in the young German striker thus far. The German giants could see Adeyemi as a very logical addition to their attack for a number of reasons next year.

It still remains to be seen if Erling Haaland will indeed stay at Borussia Dortmund past this coming summer. This would certainly kick Dortmund’s search for a new goal machine to lead the line into overdrive, making Adeyemi a good shout to help plug the Haaland sized hole should the latter depart for pastures new.

There has been some light speculation hinting that the Norwegian international might indeed choose to stay at the Westfalenstadion for some time longer, however. Sebastian Kehl noted recently that he even believes the fans may be able to convince Haaland to extend his time in black and yellow a bit longer.

Even if Haaland were to stay by some miracle, signing Adeyemi would still make sense for Borussia Dortmund. The player is quite versatile and able to play as a striker or on either wing. Dortmund’s options on the wing have been quite thin since Sancho’s departure so the addition of a talented and versatile player like Adeyemi would be a welcome one.

Adeyemi himself is a self proclaimed Dortmund fan, which would be further reason for the club to look into signing him. Sky do add that RB Salzburg are looking for a fee in the region of 30-40 million euros. So it will be interesting to see how this rumour develops in the coming months.
