The UEFA Champions League returns this week and an exciting match-up awaits us on Tuesday as Borussia Dortmund make the trip to Amsterdam to take on AFC Ajax. Ajax returned to winning ways on Saturday as they beat Heerenveen 2-0. Goals from Sebastien Haller and David Neres helped the Dutch giants get the three points and maintain their one point lead at the top of the Eredivisie standings. Erik ten Hag’s attack-minded side have been scoring goals for fun this season, with Haller forming a very exciting partnership up front with Antony and Dusan Tadic.

Ajax have enjoyed dominant wins in both their Champions League games so far. They put five past Sporting CP in their Champions League opener, and then defeated Besiktas 2-0 on matchday two.

Borussia Dortmund also prepared for Tuesday’s Champions League clash with a win. They beat Mainz 05 3-1 courtesy of goals from Marco Reus and Erling Haaland. Like Ajax, Dortmund have also been in fine goalscoring form this season. But their progress has also been affected by a number of defensive lapses. Marco Rose’s side will have to put in a much improved defensive shift if they want to get the three points at the Johan Cruijff ArenA on Tuesday.
