It still remains to be seen when Erling Haaland will be back in action for Borussia Dortmund, but Michael Zorc hopes that the striker will be able to play again before the end of the year.
Erling Haaland is currently sidelined with a hip flexor injury and is expected to be out at least until December. Borussia Dortmund have not given an exact timeframe for the striker’s return yet, but Michael Zorc hopes that he will be able to play again this year.
"“It will still take a few weeks,” Zorc told Sky on Saturday. “At the moment, it’s important for him to clear his head a bit, because he can’t do much yet. It’s too early to give an exact date. We hope that he will be able to play again this year.”"
Haaland has scored 13 goals in just ten appearances across all competitions for Borussia Dortmund this season. And his absence has certainly been felt in recent games. The Black and Yellows will be hoping to have the Norwegian international fit again soon. But they will have to make do without him for at least a few more weeks.
Marco Rose also gave an update on Borussia Dortmund’s personnel situation after the win over FC Köln on Saturday. The BVB head coach revealed that none of the injured players are expected to be fit in time for Wednesday’s UEFA Champions League group stage clash against AFC Ajax.
In addition to Haaland, Gio Reyna, Raphael Guerreiro, Mahmoud Dahoud, Nico Schulz and Mateu Morey are also out with injuries at the moment. While Dan-Axel Zagadou and Soumaila Coulibaly are closing in on their comebacks. The duo played for the BVB U-23s on Saturday to build up their match fitness.
Borussia Dortmund have two more games to play before the next international break. And the hope will be that the majority of the injured players will be available again after that.
