Borussia Dortmund go up against Ajax on matchday four of the UEFA Champions League group stage on Wednesday. The Black and Yellows can go a step closer to qualifying for the round of 16 with a win, but a defeat would leave their hopes hanging in the balance. Here are three talking points ahead of what should be a captivating contest between two quality teams.

Can Borussia Dortmund deliver a response?

Borussia Dortmund were handed a 4-0 thrashing by Ajax when the two sides met in Amsterdam two weeks ago. The result was a painful one for Marco Rose’s side and it will be interesting to see how they respond in the return fixture on Wednesday.

Borussia Dortmund have won each of their last three matches since losing to Ajax. But the Dutch giants will offer BVB a much tougher test than the likes of Arminia Bielefeld, Ingolstadt and FC Köln.

Dortmund will see Wednesday’s game as a must-win one. They will be aching to deliver a response to the hammering they received against Ajax two weeks ago, and more importantly, boost their hopes of qualifying for the knockout rounds. BVB will be backed by 60,000+ fans at the Signal Iduna Park on Wednesday, which will no doubt be a big boost for the players.
