Marco Rose: We hope Gio Reyna will play again this year

Marco Rose has admitted that he does not know when Gio Reyna will be back in action. But the Borussia Dortmund head coach hopes that the attacking midfielder will be able to play again this year.
Gio Reyna suffered a muscle injury while on international duty with the United States in September. He was expected to be out for a month. But it has been two months since his injury, and there is still no timeframe on when he will be able to make his return. Marco Rose spoke about Reyna’s injury during his press conference ahead of Borussia Dortmund’s game against RB Leipzig.
Rose confirmed that Reyna’s injury turned out to be more serious than initially expected, and he had a few problems during his rehab which forced him to take a step back. The Borussia Dortmund head coach added that it still remains to be seen when the 18 year old will actually be back in team training.
"“It’s slowly getting better. The injury turned out to be a bit more serious than we expected. It is not possible for me to predict when he will be back in team training. But we hope that he will be able to play again this year.”"
Reyna made an impressive start to the season and scored two goals in five appearances for Borussia Dortmund before suffering his injury. And his absence has certainly been felt in the BVB midfield over the last two months.
In addition to Reyna, Borussia Dortmund are also without Erling Haaland, Mahmoud Dahoud, Raphael Guerreiro, Nico Schulz, Mateu Morey, Marius Wolf and Emre Can at the moment. While Haaland and Morey will be out for a while, Rose said on Friday that he is hopeful some of the injured players will be fit again after the international break.
