Borussia Dortmund may look to loan out Youssoufa Moukoko next season
Borussia Dortmund could look to send Youssoufa Moukoko out on loan next summer in order to help him get more playing time.
It has been an eventful 12 months for Youssoufa Moukoko, who made his Borussia Dortmund first-team debut just one day after turning 16 last year. He became the youngest player to play and score in the Bundesliga last year, and has scored a total of three goals in 24 appearances for the Black and Yellows.
Moukoko, who is set to turn 17 this week, has found playing time hard to come by this season. The highly rated striker has made nine appearances so far this season, with just two of them coming from the start.
The competition for places is very high at Borussia Dortmund, with Erling Haaland, Donyell Malen and Steffen Tigges all among the options for a starting spot up front. And injuries have also slightly derailed Moukoko’s progress over the last few months.
In order to ensure that Moukoko gets the playing time he needs to continue his development, Borussia Dortmund could send him out on loan for next season. According to WAZ, the BVB bosses aren’t ruling out the possibility of loaning out the Germany U-21s international next summer, even in the event that Erling Haaland leaves the club.
The newspaper does add that Moukoko will not be leaving Borussia Dortmund on loan in the January transfer window, which is also what Sebastian Kehl said last month.
Moukoko has shown that he is capable of making an impact for Borussia Dortmund, even at his young age. And he will only get better as he gets more playing time and experience under his belt.
