Report: Borussia Dortmund formulating a plan to convince Erling Haaland to stay for another year
By Tushar Bahl
Borussia Dortmund are determined to keep Erling Haaland at the club for another year, and they are reportedly putting together a plan to fend off interest from a host of clubs across Europe.
Erling Haaland’s future beyond the end of the season remains uncertain, with several big clubs across Europe interested in signing him. But Borussia Dortmund are determined to do everything they can to keep their star striker at the club for at least another season. This is being reported by Sky Sport, who add that the BVB bosses are formulating a plan to convince Haaland to stay.
The report claims that Borussia Dortmund are ready to double Haaland’s salary to 16-18 million euros. This would make him the highest paid player at the club. While the other clubs interested in signing Haaland would likely be able to offer him a higher salary, Sky add that there are a number of things that speak in Dortmund’s favour as well.
Haaland feels very much at home at Borussia Dortmund, and he has never been shy about how happy he is at the club. The striker also has a good relationship with the team and is regarded as a leader on the pitch.
And most importantly, the 21 year old has stated on numerous occasions that he loves playing at the Signal Iduna Park in front of 80,000+ fans. Sebastian Kehl said in October that the Borussia Dortmund supporters could play a role in convincing Haaland to stay at the club.
A decision on Erling Haaland’s future has not yet been made, and it remains to be seen where he will be playing next season. Hans-Joachim Watzke said in September that they are hopeful of keeping the striker at the club for another season.
