Borussia Dortmund 2021/22 hinrunde player ratings: Forwards
By Tushar Bahl
Thorgan Hazard (5/10)
Thorgan Hazard had a few really good games during the first half of the season. But he wasn’t really able to hold onto a regular starting spot in the team, thanks in part to his injury problems. The 28 year old also struggled to find the consistency that we saw from him during his first season at Borussia Dortmund.
Hazard could only manage four goals and one assist over the course of the hinrunde. And he will certainly want to improve on those numbers in the second half of the season.
Youssoufa Moukoko (N/R)
Youssoufa Moukoko’s hinrunde was dominated by injury problems. He still managed to make nine first team appearances, but only spent 180 minutes on the pitch. Hopefully, the 17 year old will be able to steer clear of injuries in 2022.
Reinier (3/10)
Reinier failed to get much playing time during the first half of the season despite all the injury problems at Borussia Dortmund. And when he did feature, he failed to make any impact whatsoever. The Olympic Gold Medalist has not been able to make much of an impression over the last 18 months. And his time at BVB may be coming to an end sooner rather than later.
Steffen Tigges (5/10)
Erling Haaland’s injury meant that Steffen Tigges was able to get more playing over the course of the hinrunde than anyone would have expected. The towering striker made a total of 11 first-team appearances, and also started in the 3-1 defeat to Ajax in the UEFA Champions League.
While the former BVB II captain didn’t always look comfortable on the pitch, he still managed to score two Bundesliga goals during the first half of the season.
