Borussia Dortmund considering Patrik Schick as potential Erling Haaland replacement
By Tushar Bahl
Borussia Dortmund could make a move for Bayer Leverkusen striker Patrik Schick if they fail to convince Erling Haaland to stay at the club beyond the end of the season.
Borussia Dortmund have made it clear that they want Erling Haaland to stay at the club for at least another year. And reports in Germany even claim that they are ready to double his salary in a bid to convince him to stay.
But with the likes of Real Madrid, FC Barcelona, Manchester City and Manchester United reportedly interested in signing the Norwegian international, there is a chance that he could leave Borussia Dortmund in the summer.
The BVB bosses are already looking at potential replacements so that they are prepared in case Haaland does decide to leave. The likes of Sebastien Haller and Darwin Núñez have been linked with a move to Dortmund in recent weeks.
Now WAZ claim that Borussia Dortmund are also keeping an eye on Patrik Schick. The Czech Republic international is enjoying an impressive season with Bayer Leverkusen, and is currently behind only Robert Lewandowski in the Bundesliga scoring charts. He has found the net 16 times in just 14 league appearances so far this season.
WAZ add that a move for Schick would cost Borussia Dortmund at least 40 million euros, which would be a club record transfer fee. So the main aim of those in charge at BVB remains to convince Haaland to stay. The two parties are set to hold talks regarding the striker’s future in the coming weeks.
