Borussia Dortmund are planning to sign talented Ajax left-back Prince Aning, and the player even visited the club’s training ground this week.

Just days after completing the signing of highly rated Italian centre-back Filippo Calixte Mane, Borussia Dortmund are eyeing another exciting young defender. According to Ruhr Nachrichten, the Black and Yellows are looking to sign Prince Aning from Ajax. And the 17 year old is expected to join the club in the summer.

The newspaper adds that Prince Aning and his family were in Dortmund on Wednesday and also visited the club’s training ground. The plan is for him to play for Borussia Dortmund’s U-23s team in the 3. Liga next season.

Prince Aning has been playing for the Ajax U-18s this season, and also made five appearances for the club in the UEFA Youth League group stage. Two of those appearances in the UEFA Youth League came against Borussia Dortmund, where he must have made quite an impression on the BVB scouts.

Aning, who will turn 18 in April, has also won six caps for the Netherlands U-18s national team and has one goal and one assist to his name.

If the move goes through, Prince Aning will follow in the footsteps of Julian Rijkhoff, who also left the Ajax youth academy to join Borussia Dortmund. Rijkhoff (16) is currently playing for the BVB U-19s and is considered to be one of the most exciting young prospects at the club. Like Rijkhoff, Aning also has a very bright future ahead of him. And Dortmund will be looking to complete his signing in the coming weeks.
